The return of creativity – part 1 of 4

I clocked off, some time this spring. One afternoon, I closed my laptop for the day, and then the evening just rolled on and on for months. Don’t get me wrong, it was a great evening. I got married to my wonderful wife, we went to Wales, and we bought a flat (or at least had our offer accepted on one. No news on when we’ll actually move). But nevertheless, the evening drew on; no writing happened, little work, little progress in my business.

And even this isn’t the whole truth. In this time span I released the first issue of my new zine (it’s awesome and can be yours for only £3!) and two chapbooks (£5 each, or you can get the zine and both chapbooks for £10 because I really want you to read them!). I reached my goal of 10 patrons by August, and my grammar book got a publishing date – 15th September.

Now, I know, this isn’t to be scoffed at. Great things have happened and I’m very grateful. But I’m a person who enjoys working and yet, I’ve been doing the bare minimum for months. Instead, I’ve been hiding behind translation gigs and holidays and other easily available distractions.

Today is a new morning. Here is a brief update on things I’m doing right now to wake back up and get back on the metaphorical horse.

  1. I joined Wandering Aimfully  – a membership platform full of advice and courses, from creative entrepreneurs Caroline and Jason Zook. Already worth the money. I’m on day 3.
  2. I’ve started a new, super-challenging project that I can’t wait to tell you more about. It’s a book, but a book published with a twist. Not a new twist, mind you, but a twist, nevertheless.
  3. I am committing to updating this blog again on a regular basis. How regular, you say? Every Tuesday and Thursday. I’ll start with four posts about returning to creativity, based on what I learned whilst asleep.

Earnestly yours,

Amelia

P.S. If you want my first zine and chapbooks, you’d better take action soon, because I’m running low and have no plans of printing new ones! Just email me at amelia [at] earnestlyyours.com

P. P. S I will stat posting my achievement log snap again from the next post!
